AI Tutors for High School: What They Help With and How to Use One
For parents of middle and high school students
An AI tutor can help high school students work through math, science, and test prep at their own pace, any time, without handing over answers. Aristotle covers high school subjects from algebra to AP courses and guides students with questions.
What can an AI tutor help a high school student with?
Homework that is stuck on one step. Review before a quiz. Talking through a practice SAT or ACT question. An AI tutor is useful when the student can start now and does not want to wait for a booked session. It is a poor fit when the assignment is "get the answers" and the tool will supply them. Aristotle is built not to do that. It asks the next question instead.
It also fits students who will work on their own if the tutor is there, and students who freeze on a problem type and need help in the moment. A weekly human tutor or a school help center can still be the right extra if they need a person on a fixed day.
Which subjects does it cover?

Math: algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. Science: biology, chemistry, and physics. AP: AP Precalculus, AP Calculus, AP Biology, and AP Chemistry. Test prep: SAT and ACT. The full list is on the subjects page.
How should a high schooler use an AI tutor without cheating?
Use it to talk through the step they cannot do, then close it and finish the rest themselves. Do not paste a take-home test. Do not ask it to write the essay. If the school's AI policy bans helpers on a given assignment, follow the policy.
- Open the problem and say what they have already tried.
- Answer the tutor's questions out loud. If they cannot explain a step, that is the step to stay on.
- When they can do the next problem without the tutor, stop.
- If the tutor offers the final answer, switch tools.
What should parents look for?
Three things: it guides rather than answers, you can review how the session went, and there is a published safety policy. Aristotle sends session summaries to parents. Voice is processed live and raw audio is not stored. Flagged conversations go to a human on the safety team.
How does it fit with teachers and school tutoring?
An AI tutor does not replace the teacher or the school's help center. It fills the hours when those are closed. The student can bring the same stuck step to office hours later, with a clearer question, because they already had to explain it once.
How do you get started?
Pick the subject page that matches tonight's class. Start on the Intro plan, which is free with 3 one-hour sessions. Bring a problem they are actually stuck on. Paid plans are on /pricing.
