We at Aristotle are a team of tutors; we are big believers that tutoring is the best way to learn. The catch has always been that great tutoring is expensive, so let's talk honestly about what it actually costs, and how Aristotle compares.
How much do 1-on-1 tutors cost?
Most private tutors charge by the hour, and students who need real, sustained support usually meet with their tutor a few times a week. To make the comparison fair, here's what that adds up to per month at three hours a week.

Standardized test prep sits at the very top. In major cities, established test-prep tutors commonly charge a whopping $150–300 an hour, and elite specialists go well beyond that.
Where you live can matter as much as the subject: high-cost markets like New York, San Francisco, LA, and Boston often run $70–120 an hour for general tutoring and $100–250 for test prep, while mid-cost markets like Chicago, Denver, and Austin run $50–90.
