How to Use an AI Tutor for SAT Prep Alongside Bluebook and Official Practice
For parents of middle and high school students
Use an AI tutor for SAT prep by taking official Bluebook practice tests, then working through each missed question with the tutor until you can explain the reasoning yourself. Aristotle's SAT tutor guides that review with questions instead of answer keys.
What does an AI SAT tutor do?
It sits with one missed question and asks the student to talk through the step that broke. It is not a replacement for a full-length official test, and it is not an answer key. Aristotle's SAT tutor is voice-first: the student explains how they would solve the question, and the tutor asks the next question. Aristotle works through SAT-style practice questions. They are not official College Board questions.
Step 1: where do official practice tests fit?
Start with College Board's own tests. Download Bluebook and take a full-length digital practice test under the timer. After you finish, scores and question review live in My Practice. That is the closest match to test day, including the adaptive second module.
Official SAT Prep on Khan Academy is free and developed with College Board. After a Bluebook test, My Practice links into Khan Academy lessons on the skills those questions used. Use that for the skill review. Use Bluebook for the timed tests.
Step 2: how should you review missed questions?
Do not reread the answer explanation and move on. Open the missed question. Say what you thought the question was asking. Say the first step you took. When the tutor stops you, stay on that step until you can do a similar one without looking.
- Pick three to five misses from the last Bluebook test, not the whole test.
- Talk through each one with the AI tutor. Close the official explanation until you have tried.
- When you can explain the reasoning, write one sentence in your own words about the mistake.
- If you still cannot explain it, keep that question on the list for the next session.
Step 3: how do you plan study sessions week to week?
A week that works: one timed Bluebook section or a short official quiz, two short tutor sessions on the misses, and one Khan Academy lesson on the skill those misses share. Closer to test day, swap the short quiz for a full Bluebook test.
If the student is also taking the ACT, the same loop works with official ACT practice and Aristotle's ACT tutor. Do not mix the two tests in one session.

What should an AI SAT tutor not do?
It should not hand over the answer to an official question. It should not invent a score prediction. It should not replace Bluebook. And it should not claim to be using real SAT items unless the College Board published those items.
Aristotle does not use official College Board questions. It uses SAT-style practice questions, and it is there to review official practice, not to stand in for it.
