Choosing the best voice AI tutor: how the options compare

The Aristotle team

For parents of middle and high school students

A voice AI tutor is one your child talks to out loud while working a problem, and that talks back. Few tools do that as a live session. Many add voice to a chatbot or read text aloud. This page compares the ones families ask about on five things: live voice, a shared whiteboard, what parents see, how pricing works, and which subjects are covered.

Aristotle is a voice AI tutor for middle and high school students. Intro is free with three sessions. Scholar is $49 a month for eight sessions. Infinite is $199 a month for unlimited sessions in every subject, with a one-week free trial. See how Aristotle's voice AI tutor works.

What should a voice AI tutor do?

Listen while your child works, not after they type. The point of voice is that a student says what they tried and where they got stuck, in their own words. A good voice tutor responds to that reasoning with a question about the step that went wrong.

It should also show the work. Math and science are hard to talk through with no shared page, so a whiteboard both sides can see matters as much as the voice itself.

Five things to check in a voice AI tutor: live voice you can interrupt, a shared whiteboard, questions instead of answers, a summary for parents, and a free way to try it.

Is voice better than typing for learning?

For explaining a step, usually yes. Typing a problem into a chatbot is a fast way to get an answer. Talking it through makes the student put the reasoning into words, which is where a tutor can see the mistake. Students who would rather not speak can still use Aristotle's whiteboard.

When is another tool the better fit?

If your child already works in Khan Academy every week, or the school pays for it, Khanmigo knows that library. Synthesis Tutor is built for elementary math. Duolingo Max is for language practice. ChatGPT study mode is a general assistant that can ask the student to think before it continues.

Aristotle fits when you want a live voice session on a shared whiteboard, across the subjects a middle or high school student takes, with a summary for you after each one.
